Lineage of the Future
Exhibition synopsis
Sulala — Lineage of the Future brings together five over-life-size portraits by George Petrides with historical film and archival footage. Modeled on his grandmother, mother, father, himself, and daughter, the works trace a family’s journey across a century, from Smyrna to Athens to New York. Recycled PETG forms are printed at large scale, reworked by hand, and finished with metal coatings and patinas. The exhibition is complete and ready to travel, with a Gulf tour planned for 2027–2030. Venues and dates will be announced when confirmed.
Short biography
George Petrides (born Athens, 1964) is a sculptor based in Athens and New York. His work connects family memory, cultural heritage, and digital fabrication. He studied Classics at Harvard, pursued graduate studies at Stanford, and received a Certificate in Sculpture from the New York Studio School in 2022. His practice includes traveling exhibitions and public sculpture for outdoor and institutional settings.
